Return To School Update September 2020

The Epiphany School Re-opening Information.

The staff have been working very hard through the summer holiday to ensure that the school is safe and welcoming following the partial closure last year. While the risk of Covid is quite small we have put in place a number of measures to make sure that any future risk is minimised, whist also trying to return to some sort of normal schooling for the children. As much as possible children will be taught in their "class bubble" unless they are outside. A detailed risk assessment has been completed and this will be available on the school website before we re-open. More details and specific information will follow in the first newsletter of the year which will be published and posted in the parents section on Friday 4th September.

Children In Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6)

Children in Years 3 to 6 should return on Monday 7th September.

To minimise crowding we will operate a 20 minute drop off window between 8:30am and 8:50am. Children may enter the school through the Key Stage 2 playground entrance and make their way directly to their classrooms. Class teachers will be on hand to welcome them back. This measure should reduce the number of parents and children coming to the school gates at any one time, whilst also reducing the need for parents of children in different year groups to come back and forth to school.  Miss Webster and I will be on the gate to welcome the children back.

Parents should pick up their children from the Key Stage 2 playground as follows:

Years 3 and 5 at 3.05pm. Designated class spaces on the playground will be clearly marked.

Years 5 and 6 at 3.15pm. Designated class spaces on the playground will be clearly marked.

We would ask that you leave promptly and do not congregate in the playground once your child(ren) have been dismissed. Teachers will not be available to talk to at the end of the day at this time.

Children In Key Stage 1 (Years 1 to 2)

Children in Years 1 to 2 should return on Tuesday 8th September.

To minimise crowding we will operate a 20 minute drop off window between 8:30am and 8:50am. Children may enter the school through the Key Stage 2 playground entrance and make their way directly to their classrooms. Class teachers will be on hand to welcome them back. This should reduce the number of parents and children coming to the school gates at any one time, whilst also reducing the need for parents of children in different year groups to come back and forth to school.  Miss Webster or I will be on the gate to welcome the children back.

Parents should pick up their children from the Key Stage 1 playground as follows:

Year 1 at 3.05pm.

Year 2 at 3.15pm

We will use a similar system to the one in place during the period of partial school closure whereby teachers will dismiss their classes from the Key Stage 1 playground.

We would ask that you leave promptly and do not congregate in the playground once your child(drew) have been dismissed. Teachers will not be available to talk to at the end of the day at this time.

Siblings

Where possible we will try to dismiss all family members in the same Key Stage at the same time.

Walking Home Children

If you wish your child to walk home on their own please send in a note to the class teacher.

What Children Need to Bring In

Children should bring in the following:

Wear normal school uniform including a coat if the weather is bad.

Named lunch box unless you have ordered a packed school lunch. Please wash/sanitise your lunchbox daily.

Named water bottle. Please wash/sanitise daily.

Their school book bag. We would ask that you provide one of these for your child if they do not currently have one.

In order to minimise crowding in the cloakroom areas children must not bring in PE bags or rucksacks.

There will be no PE or Games in the first week back.

Once these lessons begin we will ask children to come into school in their games kit on the days that these take place.

I am very much looking forward to seeing all the children back in school soon.

Watch out for next week's newsletter that will provide greater detail on the measures that have been put in place to ensure that we have a successful 2020/21.
