PSHE
The Epiphany School follow the 1decision programme for teaching Personal, Social, Health and Economics (PSHE) education. The core of the programme is a series of videos with alternative endings together with engaging activities. The purpose of videos is to encourage and empower children to make positive choices and decisions for the characters, whilst learning the vocabulary, skills, and knowledge to support their own decision making now and in the future.
The 1decision programme is based around 3 Core Themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World. These Core Themes are broken down into smaller units of work. These include:
- Keeping/Staying Safe
- Keeping/Staying Healthy
- Relationships
- Growing and Changing
- Being Responsible
- Feelings and Emotions
- Computer Safety
- Our World
- The Working World
- A World Without Judgement
- Fire Safety
- First Aid.
The Long Term Overview sets out which units are taught within each year group. This is supported by the progression document detailing the key learning from each unit.
Children in EYFS are taught weekly PSHE lessons using the ‘Animations, Read-to-Me Storybooks and Dilemma Drops’ within 1decision. This is in addition to their on-going teaching of the prime area of Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED).
There is a 1decision parent zone where you can access advice, ideas and guidance on a range of topics.
