RSE
At The Epiphany School, we teach the Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) curriculum using the supplementary online resources from “1Decision.”
Biological aspects of RSE are taught within the science curriculum, and other aspects are included in religious education (RE).
All relationships, sexual education RSE will be taught by class teachers who know their class well. Respect will be shown to different backgrounds and beliefs of children and parents whilst always aiming to provide pupils with the knowledge they need for future life.
Relationships education focuses on teaching the fundamental building blocks and characteristics of positive relationships including:
- Families and people who care for me
- Caring friendships
- Respectful relationships
- Online relationships
- Being safe
We also teach all children the phrase, ‘No. Stop. I don’t like it.’ We encourage children to use this phrase when something or someone is doing something that they do not like. Teachers encourage children to use this phrase on the playground to support solving disputes.
In addition to the science provision, the RSE will encompass:
- Appropriate touch and personal space
- Puberty
- Conception
The School have a separate RSE policy which can be found in: Key Information, Key documents, Policies.
