Writing
At The Epiphany School, we help children become confident and effective writers. Writing is taught through two key areas: transcription (spelling and handwriting) and composition (developing, organising and communicating ideas).
Children learn to write fluently and accurately by building strong spelling, phonics and handwriting skills. They are also taught how to plan, draft, revise and improve their work, choosing vocabulary and grammar carefully to suit different audiences and purposes. As pupils progress through the school, they develop the confidence to express their ideas clearly, creatively and effectively in a wide range of writing styles.
The teaching of handwriting is supported in EYFS and Year 1 through the use of Little Wandle Handwriting and from Year 2 to Year 6 by Nelson Handwriting.
